Hey Youth Families!

Welcome to Rooted Youth Ministries at Saint Paul’s UMC! We are stoked that you are interested in our ministry and hope you will be joining us soon. Our mission at Rooted is to equip youth with an ever-growing faith in Jesus Christ in exciting and engaging ways. Throughout the year we provide opportunities for youth to do this through missions, leadership positions, worship, bible studies, and community focused games and activities. If your youth comes to Rooted, they will be welcomed by a loving group of students and adult leaders that care about them and their faith development. Our Youth Ministry offers the following programs:

Sunday School

Every Sunday Rooted meets for Sunday School from 9:45-10:45 am. Our Sunday School Program offers youth a time to have guided conversations about biblical topics based on curriculum written for them. At Sunday School we prompt youth to think deeply about their faith and discover new things each week. Oh, and there’s free doughnuts!

Sunday Night Youth

Every Sunday evening from 5:45-8pm, Rooted meets for Sunday Night Youth! Every week at SNY, your youth can expect to have some free time, enjoy a free meal, play some exciting and interactive games, and attend Saint Paul’s evening worship service that is geared towards them.

 UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship)

Every Wednesday from 6-7pm Rooted meets for UMYF. This program places emphasis on fellowship, and provides youth the opportunity to be in community in a relaxed environment during the middle of their busy weeks. Every week at UMYF youth will have the opportunity to have some free time, participate in an activity or devotional, and share their Joys and Concerns for the week. Churchwide dinner is from 5:30-6pm in Sanders Hall before youth begins, you can register for Wednesday Night Dinner in the Weekly Notes on our homepage.

Youth Choir

Every Wednesday immediately following UMYF, Rooted meets for Youth choir from 7-7:45pm.  Our youth are heavily involved in leading worship at Saint Paul’s and we regularly lead worship at our Sunday morning service’s. The Youth Choir works on fun, beautiful, and meaningful new music to glorify our Lord and minister to our congregation. Contact our fantastic Youth Choir director, Gaye Herndon with any questions.

Sacred Dance

Seasonally, Rooted Youth have the opportunity to participate in Saint Paul’s Sacred Dance Ministry. Contact Stephany Nystrand to see if the ministry is meeting and how your youth can get involved.

Get Connected:

Remind: serves as our communication to youth throughout their week. In our Remind, youth will receive important information and reminders about upcoming events, as well as a short devotional or words of encouragement once a week. The group functions in announcement mode, so everybody in the group will receive messages from me, not from other people in the group. I will need all parents of youth who join the group to fill out a communications permission and preference form I can email you. I encourage parents to join our group so you can follow up on announcements I send at home! You can choose to get text reminders, or download the app.

Email: sign up for our Weekly Newsletter to receive weekly emails about what we are doing each week, and what we have coming up! This is the best way to receive important information regarding trips, events, and all other announcements.

Youth Forms:

In order to participate in the youth program, we ask everyone to have a current medical release form on file.  Your first time visiting we will also ask for a family information sheet and for kids to sign a youth covenant.  All of these forms can be obtained by attending a youth event, or you can fill them out here ahead of time.  The medical release form does need to be notarized!  We have a member of our church staff that can do that for you anytime during regular business hours.
